We are based in Eastcheap House which is just at the entrance to the Garden Square Shopping Centre.
All of our Games Design courses are on the 2nd floor, which is a bright, open-plan space designed for learners to flourish in a relaxed environment. Our Music Performance course is held on the 1st floor, where our learners can explore the exciting world of music in a darker, more atmospheric space, taking influence from live music venues and rehearsal spaces.
We also have something incredibly unique; two flight simulators… the ultimate sensory room!
t’s right in the middle of Letchworth in a busy shopping centre, a short walk from a variety of shops. The train station is a approximately 3-5 minute walk away. Taxis tend to drop off and pick up just outside, or near Sainsburys. Letchworth itself is quite a calm town with plenty of green spaces to relax in too. Our learners tend to keep the local bakeries in business however if someone wanted to bring in a pack-lunch, then they can use one of our fridges.
3D printer for Games Design students to print their assets and as mentioned above, two immersive flight simulators where our young people can fly through space, shoot lasers, OR land an Airbus at night!
Overall we want to remove as much anxiety as possible for our learners. Upstairs in our Games Design area, we went for more of a Game Development office space feel, rather than an education environment which they may have been used to previously. It works!
Supporting greater independence through practical life skills, including managing money, navigating relationships, planning meals, and understanding emotions.
For schools & MATs
To be around like-minded peers and discuss a whole range of topics specific to the course but also, to have fun! Our aim is to help our students reach their full potential with a bespoke approach to learning, but also for them to become more confident individuals with a can-do attitude, with an increased feeling of self-worth and wellbeing.
For parents & carers
We have had various students leave us in Level 3, go off to University to continue their journey in Games Design and into work in the digital sector however learners can move into employment in sectors where weren’t originally even on the cards. One learner is working in laboratories in BioScience for example. This goes to show the variety of transferable skills which our courses have within. The world’s your oyster! Another great example is one of our learners who started Level 2, moved to Level 3, started work experience with EOB, became an LSA and is now one of our Online Tutors delivering Level 1 and 2 Games Design courses.
(Up to 24 UCAS points)
The tools I used at EOB were advanced – way more professional than I thought it would be – which has been great to get into the world of games design.
